Title

Racial Succession and Changing Property Values in Residential Chicago (1953)

Subject

race of occupancy and real estate price in Woodlawn

Description

This study is directed toward illumination of the relationships which exist between property values and race of occupancy; more specifically, it is limited to the study of the effect which Negro occupancy exerts upon the price of real estate in certain Chicago residential areas. The bulk of the data is taken from areas which were in process of racial transition at some time during the study period -- 1940-1951. Woodlawn was one of the neighborhoods used as a case study.
